Historic Partnership Supports Greenhaw’s Mission Work

A new partnership marks the first time that an Oklahoma Baptist church has directly and formally linked with the Baptist General Convention of Texas to support missionaries in a foreign county.

The move technically entitles First Baptist Church of Norman and its members full rights and privileges of membership in the Texas Baptist Convention.

Early this summer, FBC Norman, BGCT and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Oklahoma entered a cooperative agreement to support the work of Houston and Charlotte Greenhaw in Brazil.

The Greenhaws resigned after 23 years of service with the International Mission Board of the SBC rather than sign the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.

Convicted that their work in Brazil was not yet finished, the Greenhaws shared their concerns with members at FBC Norman.  FBC Norman, CBFO and BGCT then partnered together to provide the resources to send them back to Brazil.

By late July the Greenhaws were back in Brazil assisting a two man volunteer medical team from the Baptist Medical/Dental Fellowship that went down to give eye exams at the prisons where the Greenhaws minister.  Another twenty person medical team will be going down in October.

Charlotte is speaking at music clinics,  Houston is training pastors, and both are ministering to the professional community in their neighborhood.  Click here to see their report from the mission field.
