Don't take our word for what the Greek text says.

Look it up Yourself !

Here's How:

Track down a New American Standard Bible, find the preface on "Explanation of General Format" and read the explanation of "Italics." It wouldn’t hurt to glance at the Preface, Foreword, and Fourfold Aim of the Lockman Foundation. Then look up Ephesians 5:21-22 in the NASB.

If you don’t know Greek, but would like to see the verse in print in an interlinear Greek-English translation, check your church library, your pastor’s study, or a Christian book store and see if they have an interlinear translation of either the Nestle or the United Bible Society’s Greek New Testament.

CAUTION: Some interlinear Bibles are not based on the Nestle or UBS version of the Greek New Testament.  Many of these use texts where someone, not the Apostle Paul, has added the word for submit to the Greek text (See the article on "Use The Best Greek Texts").

On the Internet you can find an interlinear Bible here:BS00172_.WMF (3934 bytes)

The UBS Greek New Testament is online here: BS00172_.WMF (3934 bytes)

If you’d like to see one Bible translator’s study notes explaining why he thinks later copyists added the word for submit to the text of Ephesians 5:22, look here BS00172_2.WMF (3934 bytes)   and check note #30.
