Edgar and Zelma Hallock, retired missionaries
Edgar was the son of Edgar "Preacher" Hallock who was pastor of First Baptist Church of Norman for 46 years and was a widely known conference speaker.
Edgar, Jr. and his wife, Zelma, served as Southern Baptist missionaries to Brazil for 45 years.
Edgar was a driving force behind the Baptist World Alliance and coordinated world congresses in 1960, 1990 and 1995.
The Hallocks have two children serving as Southern Baptist missionaries in Brazil. Their daughter, Charlotte and her husband, Houston Greenhaw, minister to street children and those in prison in Recife, Brazil. Their son, Eddie and his wife serve in Southern Brazil.
Edgar was a charter member of Mainstream Oklahoma Baptists and served on its executive board and was a member of our speakers bureau.
Edgar passed away last summer. He was inducted into the Mainstream Baptist Hall of Fame posthumously in February 2002.
